Dive into the oceanic escapades of the Outsiders as they embark on a perilous journey to the Enlil Triangle! Penned by the dynamic duo Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, with visuals brought to life by the talented Robert Carey and a splash of vibrant hues by Valentina Taddeo. Letters dance across the pages courtesy of Tom Napolitano, and the cover art by Roger Cruz and Adriano Lucas sets the tone for the aquatic adventure.
Our tale begins at the Outsiders' field office in London, where Batwoman regales her team with a harrowing story of a mission gone awry. Cue the Enlil Triangle, a storm-ridden abyss for the past 25 years, and an encounter with a Kraken that makes the entire ocean quake in fear. Spoiler alert: Batwoman lived to tell the tale!
Eager to debunk the aquatic mysteries, Fox and Drummer set out for the Enlil Triangle. Surprise guest stars? The Challengers of the Unknown! Meet Moses, Bethany, Trina, and Krunch with a K, the fourth iteration of these intrepid adventurers. Their superkickass ship and wicked supercomputer are not to be underestimated, as Moses casually mentions its skill in taking down The Monitor. NEAT, indeed!
Tensions rise as the Challengers throw some serious shade, telling the Outsiders to take a hike. Batwoman, undeterred, dons what can only be described as the Outsiders' War Machine suit and dives to the ocean's depths. A sea monster graveyard unfolds, and cue the entrance of the Challengers in their Megazord-esque formation.
A monster showdown looms, but Batwoman's plea for empathy brings a surprising twist: the sea monster is just a kid. Diplomacy prevails, thanks to Batwoman's compelling argument: "If the Aquaman offed your entire family, wouldn't you be a tad upset?" And with that, the oceanic odyssey concludes.
While the plot may not make waves, the artistic brilliance of Carey and Taddeo keeps the visuals stunning. The issue might feel like a one-shot, but it's a delightful glimpse into the team dynamics. With the promise of bigger storylines on the horizon, coupled with the captivating artwork, Outsiders #2 surfs in with a solid 7.5/10! Dive in, the water's just fine.
